Positive Quotes and Affirmations 3

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessfulpeople with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius isalmost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full ofeducated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone areomnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always willsolve the problems of the human race." "The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put upwith the rain." (Dolly Parton)

"If you are given a chance to be a role model, I think youshould always take it because you can influence a person'slife in a positive light, and that's what I want to do. That'swhat it's all about." (Tiger Woods)

"Happiness depends more on how life strikes you than on whathappens." (Andy Rooney)

Who Are You?

Helen Keller once said "A man can't make a place for himself in the sun if he keeps taking refuge under the family tree." If you want to make something out of yourself and be your own person you can't rely on others, even your family to make something out of you.

Of course you want the support of friends and family but when it comes to creating the person you want to be, it has to be your own effort.

Making something out of yourself requires using your own free will, deciding what you want to be or how you want to feel, etc. Then the determination to make it come to pass.

If you think about it, you got off to a good start "you were born an original. Don't die a copy." (John Mason). Society, sometimes even including family and firends have a preconcieved notion as to who you are or what you ought to be.

It's all up to you. Don't be a copy of someone elses idea of what you should be.

On the other hand, we (a part of society) can exert influence to try and change someone which we shouldn't do. The following quote says it best: "We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly." -- Sam Keen

Happiness Is A State Of Mind

Happiness Is A State Of Mind

Benjamin Franklin said "Happiness depends more on the inward disposition of mind than on outward circumstances."

I don't think there is anyone alive who doesn't want personal happiness. The definition of "Happiness" is a varied as there are people seeking it. But one thing everyone has in common seeking happiness is that it begins in the mind. it is a mental effort.

Thoughts of the mind are what this blog is all about, promoting personal daily positive affirmations. Achieving a positive affirmation is going to make you happy and as we know positive affirmations are all about what goes on in the mind.

HEALTH Positive Affirmations

Health Affirmations: Affirmation Jewelry Charms

There are infinate influences that affect our health for good or bad. Many we have control over and many we don't. In most health issues we have control over our mind and thoughts.

Most medical practinioners will recomend a good attitude when facing a medical problem. Positive affirmations are a great way to try to stay positive. Notice I said "try and stay positive". Chronic illnesses and life threatening health issues are very difficult but that's when you need a positive mental attitude more than ever.

Just as symptoms can ebb and flow so can your attitude. Positive affirmations can be a good way to remind yourself how to stay positive.

For affirmations to work they need to be specific so when creating your affirmations remember to understand what the words mean to you. For example, what does "positive" mean?

Here's a positive affirmation: I am positive today. If you say it over and over, that's nice but what are you saying to youself? What does positive mean to you. It really doesn't matter what the dictionary says it means, it's what it means to you that matters.

In my health battles here is my list of health related affirmations:

I am positive today.
I am making it through the day.
Today is all that matters. (one day at a time concept)
I will grow today inspite of the pain.
I am blessed to have these experiences.
I am happy today.
I will shower today.
I will get dressed today.
This broken leg will only keep me down for a few months then I will run and jump and jump and run...

My health is a state of mind:

Although my (Chronic Fatigue) "use whatever the illness in parenthesis" slows my body, my mind is free as a bird.
My illness doesn't define me, my attitude and thoughts define me and they are good thoughts.

What works for you?

SELF EXAMINATION and Quotes for the User of Affirmations

SELF EXAMINATION and Quotes

There is a famous quote in the circles of philosophy by Socrates that says "the unexamined life is not worth living."
Is this true? From the circles of Affirmation thinkers I suggest it is a true statement.

Those who use personal positive affirmations do so with the intent of making their lives better.

If we think that our lives could be better though the use of personal affirmations then we examine our lives to see what need improving. many people spend there life looking for meaning and fail to examine themselves in the quest. St. Augustine said ti best with this quote: "People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering."

If we really want personal affirmations to make us better or to improve ourselves then we must examine ourselves and then set goalson what we feel needs improvement and then employ the use of positive daily affirmations.
