Claddagh Rings, Celtic Wedding Bands

The Irish Claddagh Rings go by many names, one of the most common names in Celtic Wedding Band or Irish Rings. The are also refered to as a friendship ring. The reason for so many different names is because of the symbolism associated with these rings.
The Claddagh (Claddaugh) symbol represents three symbols. The heart means love. The hands mean friendship and the Crown mean loyalty. Love, Friendship and Loyality are three virtues upon which relationsships are founded.
That's why this Claddagh Ring goes by some many names. These virtues are a sure foundation for marriage hence the name Celtic Wedding Band. Friendship thrives with these frtues so it is used as a freindship or promise ring.
This symbolic Irish ring is worn solo by many people because the appreciate these virtues in daily living. An interesting note, many of those who wear the ring solo will wear it with the heart pointing away from them meaning their heart is available. Others wear the heart tip point towards them meaning their heart is taken in the case of a Claddagh Wedding band or promise ring.

Their is a lot of Celtic symbol mixed in with the Claddaugh ring either directl as in the two Claddagh ring pictures shown above and below. The one above replaces the hands with a Celtic Trinity knot. The Irish Ring below add the Celtic trinity knot along with the hands (my favorite).

The Irish are associated with green and this Irish claddagh ring has a green CZ in the heart giving it an Irish emphasis.

In addition to these Irish Claddagh rings shown in this post there are several other styles of the Celtic Wedding ring: Irish Claddagh Ring Celtic Wedding Band.
